Prescriptions
Please follow the guidelines and choose the right option for you.
Please allow us 72 hours (three working days), to process your prescription request.
Please be aware, forms will only be checked once a day - for anything urgent please contact the Surgery directly.
We do not accept repeat prescription requests over the phone.
Ordering a Repeat Prescription
When you order a prescription online, you can have it sent electronically to a pharmacy of your choice. This is called a nomination.
Pendre Dispensary
Drugs cannot be dispensed on the day of request unless a doctor is on the premises.
Pendre Dispensary is open from 8:45am to 6pm.
Pendre Surgery supports the BCUHB prescribing guidelines on not prescribing products which are available over the counter from the community pharmacies.
Pendre Surgery dispenses its own medicines to patients who live more than 1 mile from a chemist shop. This service is offered to those patients who register as dispensing patients when they join the practice. Please enquire with any staff member to see if you would be eligible for this service.

You can also register for the NHS Wales App, where you are able to request repeat prescriptions. Please ask Dispensary Staff for further details.
Repeat prescriptions still need to be ordered at least 3 working days in advance of when they are needed.

Your Local Pharmacy
Pharmacy Ordering / Collection Service
The Practice will no longer accept "managed" (auto-ordered) repeat requests from community pharmacies, whereby the pharmacy retains the repeat ordering slip and orders on the patient's behalf. This change does not affect patients who retain their ordering slip, select items required and drop it off at the pharmacy 7 days before their next prescription is due.
About pharmacists
As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:
- coughs
- colds
- sore throats
- tummy trouble
- aches and pains
They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.
In Person
Please take your repeat prescription slip to the chemist you wish to collect the prescription from, indicating which items you need, and it will be available for collection 3 days later. No telephoned repeats will be accepted in either the chemists or the surgery.
Questions About Your Prescription
If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.
The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.
If you would like to speak to someone at the GP surgery about your prescription, please contact us.
Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).
The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
When going abroad you can take your NHS medications with you.
Please visit the NHS website for the latest Prescription Charges
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
